Privacy Policy
Effective 2 October 2026
The short version: ScreenFace records your screen, camera and microphone on your iPhone, and keeps those recordings on your iPhone.
We don’t have accounts, servers, analytics, ads or trackers. We never receive your recordings or any information about how you use the app.
This policy explains how the ScreenFace app for iPhone (“ScreenFace”, “the app”, “we”, “us”) handles your information. It applies to the app and to this website, screenface.app.
Information we collect
None. ScreenFace does not collect, transmit, sell or share personal data. The app makes no network requests of its own, contains no third-party SDKs, and does not use analytics, advertising identifiers or tracking of any kind.
What stays on your device
To work, ScreenFace creates and stores the following only on your iPhone:
- Recordings. Videos of your screen, your face from the front camera, your voice if you enable the microphone, and app audio. They are saved inside the app’s private storage.
- Recording details. Each video’s name, capture date, duration and whether you have saved it to Photos.
- Edited copies. Trimmed or reframed copies you create with the editor.
- Preferences. Your recording settings (resolution, frame rate, bitrate, codec, file type), appearance, language and whether you have finished onboarding.
We cannot see or access any of it. Depending on your iPhone settings, this data may be included in your own iCloud or computer backups, which are handled by Apple under its own privacy policy.
Permissions
ScreenFace asks for these iOS permissions, and uses each only for the stated purpose:
- Camera — to show and record your face in a floating Picture in Picture window while you record.
- Microphone — to record your voice alongside the screen, only when you turn the microphone on in the system recording prompt.
- Screen recording — to capture your screen and app audio. iOS asks you to approve this each time a recording starts, and shows an indicator while recording is active.
- Photos (add only) — to save a video to your Photos library when you tap Save. ScreenFace asks only to add videos; it cannot read, browse or change the photos and videos already in your library.
You can change or revoke any of these at any time in the iPhone Settings app. Denying a permission only disables the feature that needs it.
Sharing
Recordings leave the app only when you choose to send them — by tapping Share, which opens the standard iOS share sheet, or Save, which copies the video to Photos. Once you share a recording with another app or person, their own privacy practices apply.
Please be mindful that a screen recording captures whatever is on your screen, including messages, notifications and other people’s content.
Deleting your data
You can delete any recording from the Videos tab. Deleting ScreenFace from your iPhone removes all of its recordings, details and preferences. Copies you saved to Photos or shared with others are not affected and must be deleted there.
Contacting us
If you email us, for example with Contact Us in the app’s Settings, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write or attach. We use it only to reply to you, and you can ask us to delete that correspondence at any time.
Apple diagnostics
If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone settings, Apple may provide us with anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. This is controlled by you and Apple, and does not include your recordings.
This website
screenface.app does not use cookies, analytics or tracking. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address as part of the request. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs for security and reliability.
Children
ScreenFace is not directed at children under 13, and because the app collects no personal data, we do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR or CCPA give you rights to access, correct or delete personal data held about you. Since we hold none from the app, there is usually nothing to request — but you are always welcome to ask, and we will help with any email correspondence we hold.
Changes to this policy
If we change how ScreenFace handles information, we will update this page and its effective date. Significant changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
